“Ms. Saydoon Nisa Sayed is the Co-Chair of the African Women of Faith Network (AWFN) and Secretary of Religions for Peace, Durban, South Africa. She has been involved with Religions for Peace since 1996 as an executive and she served as Administrative Secretary (volunteer) since 1996. In 2002 she joined Religions for Peace as a contract staff serving as an Administrative Secretary.
She is responsible for the day to day management of the programmes, activities and the office of Religions for Peace. Ms. Sayed served as Secretariat for the KwaZulu-Natal Inter Religious Council (KZN IRC)which implements decisions and policies of the KZN IRC from its inception in 2007. She has the overall management responsibility of program implementation and activities of both Religions for Peace and the KZN Inter Religious Council. Ms. Sayed has a Post Graduate Certificate in Management from the University of Brighton, UK, 1995/6. Ms. Sayed is a Human Rights Peace Activist and her day starts at pre-dawn with Morning Prayers.
“I live by the Holy Qur’an, and my mission is ‘Say: Verily, my prayer and my sacrifice and my life and my death are for Allah, the Lord of the worlds.’ (Chapter 6.Verse 162). It is my vision for all people to be appreciated, and appreciate others. With the advancement of technology and with social media we can engage positively with people. It is my mission to help people slow down, think, reflect and become productive beings (citizens)” says Ms. Sayed.
