The African Council of Religious Leaders – Religions for Peace has the following principal purposes.
i) To foster interreligious dialogue and collaboration to enhance interreligious harmony and peace in Africa.
ii) To harness the social assets of religious leaders and faith communities in Africa to work for love, peace, justice, prosperity and solidarity in Africa;
iii) To take multi-religious action for peace and development within African states in times of emergency or crisis, working to transform those conflicts and advancing sustainable development in cooperation with the National Inter-religious Councils and relevant institutions;
iv) To facilitate cooperation among Religions for Peace affiliated African national Inter-religious Councils, Women of Faith and Youth Networks in responding to Pan-African challenges;
v) To establish partnerships with the Pan-African, Pan-regional and other institutions to advance peace and development in Africa.
